It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on 27th September, 2012 of Paddy Doyle, who was a Club member for many years.
Paddy was a loyal member who often came on outings and to evening meetings with his grandson Daniel. He was 84 years old and he and his wife had just celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary, receiving a much appreciated card from the Queen. He had latterly also a fond attachment to the family pet, a kitten that he cherished.
Gill remembers Paddy’s interest in astronomy that she believes started with transporting Patrick Moore in his black taxi cab and his keen participation in boot fairs.
Paddy had suffered for the last year with pneumonia and passed away peacefully in the Princess Royal Hospital of further complications.
He was recently buried at St. Martins at Tours Church near Chelsfield and at the service, Daniel mentioned that Paddy had very much enjoyed metal detecting and his time with the club.
Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
