The members enjoyed the evening of Friday 13th December when we had our Christmas party. Members brought along food and the club supplied the soft drinks. After our monthly competition judging, we all judged our Coin of the Year, Artefact of the Year, Eyes Only Find of the Year and two new annual competitions Any Sites Artefact of the Year and Any Sites Coin of the Year.
Pierre was declared Finder of the Year with 98 points with Alan second with 74 points and Ken third with 72 points.
Coin of the Year was awarded to Alan for his find of a Trajan Denarius at S.Street on 24th November.
Artefact of the Year was awarded to Tim for his crotal bell found at C.Farm on 10th November.
Eyes Only Find of the Year was awarded to Geoff for his collection of pot boilers, oyster shell, pottery and a bead from S.Street on 24th November.
Any Sites Coin of the Year was awarded to Josh for his Roman Denarius found at a Bedford Rally.
Any Sites Artefact of the Year was awarded to Lesley for her C3-4th Roman plate brooch with yellow and black glass stone intact found in Wiltshire.
Many thanks to Ken and Gill for the very entertaining ‘Logo’ team quiz. Two teams achieved 39 out of 40 and the tie was broken by a spelling mistake!
