Aha, that got you reading didn’t it?
As the AGM draws near the perennial poser of committee membership starts to rear its shoots in today’s spring sunshine. If you would like to influence the way that the club is managed then please give some serious thought to signing up. The task is not arduous and does have some advantages – which will be revealed once you have undergone initiation. I know that searching is the primary object of many of you but I think there should be more to the club than just that. We really need someone to organise events such as guest speakers and visits to outside events – where, in the past, we have acquired the gold dust of new land. Events organiser is really a liaison job. For example: having been given suggestions about potential speakers you will ascertain their available dates, fees and/or expenses they expect and, importantly, canvass all members to ensure that the level of support justifies the booking.
There is an old saying about clubs of all types: “Don’t criticise without being constructive. Don’t sit on the fence – sit on the committee!”
And don’t forget to bring your any sites artefacts and coins for judging at the AGM.
Andrew.
