At our evening meeting on 17th November, Andrew Richardson will be speaking on the subject of Anglo Saxon jewellery.
“Far Fetched Treasures” explores the origins, meaning and role of high status early Anglo Saxon items from the 5th to 6th centuries with an accent on Kentish material. He will do his best to provide answers on the inspiration for this elaborate metalwork and why so much effort and exotic raw materials were expended on decorative clothes fasteners.
