Important Notice No 2 to all members
Dear LEGISE delegate,
Further to my last important notice to members, reporting a dispute between the NCMD national office and four of its regions (Southern, Western, Midlands and Yorkshire), relationships have seriously deteriorated. The regions have agreed to a mediation process but this has recently been turned down by the NCMD national officers on the grounds that they refuse to mediate with the duly elected regional NCMD officers, that they do not now want to recognise and communicate with.
In consequence, a provisional decision has been made to remove LEGISE’s affiliation to the NCMD as from 31 March 2022. The reasons for the breakdown in relationships are many but these are the main ones: –
- Considerable sums of member’s money having been spent on contracts without proper tendering and full authorisation.
- Recruiting salaried officers without full committee approval.
- Introduction of a new and expensive automated card system without full discussion or approval.
- Ignoring the existence, work and effort of NCMD regions and not giving any regional membership promotion in the ‘Digging Deep’ magazine.
BULLET POINTS 1,2 &3 BREACH THE NCMD CONSTITUTION, A LEGAL DOCUMENT THAT WAS DESIGNED TO PROTECT MEMBERS RIGHTS AND FUNDS FROM MISUSE AND WHICH ALL DULY ELECTED NCMD OFFICERS HAVE A DUTY TO UPHOLD.
The situation will be reviewed at the end of this year and if a resolution to the dispute has not been achieved, LEGISE will remove its affiliation to the NCMD.
I hope that you and your members would stay members of LEGISE, which will become reorganised as an individual member based organisation, still covering London and the Home Counties.
Please inform your club members accordingly.
Regards
Clive Sinclair
