Well, we tried….. club members made a valiant attempt to put on a display of finds at the Blindley Heath Country Show held over the MayDay bank holiday. When we arrived to set up we were greeted with a site more akin to the Western Front in 1916 than a country fair in Surrey! After five weeks of constant rain the showground was a quagmire. Nevertheless, our gallant lads threw themselves into the task and, in driving rain, attempted to form a bridge head on their designated pitch. Alas the conditions proved too much even for them and they eventually made a tactical withdrawal. Our next campaign is at The Smallholders Show in Ardingly on 30th June where the club will be hoping for more clement weather in which to show land-owning visitors just what can be found beneath their pastures.
