As some of you know Geoff and I occasionally get involved with archaeological digs and on the way back from the second year at Barrrow Clump, Wiltshire we called in at another dig in progress in East Sussex to scan the spoil heaps and mark the metal signals in the trenches.
Here are some photos of what I found on the spoil heap. It had us all going for a while!
One of the culprits was Kevin, our Vice-Chairman from WKAS!
He commented in an email to us and other members of WKAS:
BTW. ‘Congratulations to Geoff and Lesley for the find of the week at the Farm. Wish I’d been there. I was worried that the spoil heap would grow too high over it.’
The comment on Facebook from the Dig Director Rob in East Sussex was:
‘We had Lesley and Geoff down on site, two very good metal detectors, they found an amazing statue which now means that we will have to revisit our views on international trade, a large national museum in London has come and collected it for authentication.
Actually I would like to thank Pete, Kev and Brian for a very nice garden statue that I will put in front of the caravan! That’s one I owe you guys, WATCH YOUR BACKS!!!’
