Firstly, LEGISE will not be acting as brokers for detecting insurance in 2023. Members will need to go to AMDS or NCMD websites to obatin their insurance. If you are currently with AMDS (www.amds.org.uk) your insurance expires on 31st December, the NCMD (www.ncmd.co.uk) insurance expires on 31st March. You will need to prove your insuance on club digs and other events.
LEGISE will ask for a donation of £1 per member.
There will be a landscape survey (rally) in Shepherdswell near Dover on 19th February, 2023. It will cost £15 per member (you need to belong to LEGISE to take part). There is likely to a rota of jobs for part of the time on the day. Please email Geoff if you are interested. gmburr59@gmail.com

Field Assemblage recording
There is a big push to increase recording using field assemblage records. This is being run alongside the PAS and will simplify recording for individuals and clubs. This is a LEGISE initiative. The information you need to do field assemblage recording is below.

Geoff will be trialing Field Assemblage recording at the search on Sunday 13th November.
Recording is very important and helps to ligitimise the hobby in the eyes of the establishment and particularly the archaeologists. If we don’t record our finds then we could expose ourselves to the hobby being banned. The club tries to record finds made on club sites (has done so for at least 30 years) and this is what the monthly competition is about, our way to encourage recording. However, most members who go to club searches these days are failing to attend evening meetings (or inform committee members of their finds) and therefore no finds are being entered in the competitions which means we then have no records. It is the member’s responsibility to assist with recording their finds made on club sites, failure to record could put your club membership at risk because you are bringing the club into disrepute.
